New stock is up!

August 18, 2008

Our new stock for this week is up and ready for Tuesday evening at 8pm EST!
Come and take a look at everything here: www.hyenacart.com/HomemadeMama

We have LOTS of new hand dyed bamboo velour fabrics from www.hyenacart.com/naturalhomepresents
Gigi has done a BEAUTIFUL job dying these fabrics for me and I’m so pleased to have SO many new colors! It truly makes work so much more enjoyable when you have gorgeous fabrics to use! :)

This week we have done things a little differently. We’ve done aprox. 6 pads in each size, and they are listed as ONE pad, TWO pads or THREE pads. We hope this will give everyone an opportunity to buy just what they need, whether it be one pad to try out, or add to their stash, or several to get them just what they need to make it through their monthly cycle. We hope everyone enjoys this change. We hope to do this more often, but also continue with the packages as well. It just really depends on the time we have each week. Now that we are stocked back up on fabrics, we hope to have more variety for each stocking.

Here’s some photos from this week:

Alpine

Marina

Red Violet

Forest at Midnight

Midnight

Haute

And, Blueberry Bush

And some Minkee for those who just love it!

We also have several cotton ball packages this week! This one is my fav:

And, I almost forgot to share! We have two OogaBooga Poppetjie’s!

In other news, our new EnduraPad fabrics have arrived this week as well, so we hope to have some more to offer next week, if we can get the time. If not, then by the following week. We have more colors this time! Lots of fun! :)

Time for another FAQ Question and Answer!

Question: What is the best way to wash cloth pads, to minimize stains? Also, what is your trimmest, yet still quite absorbent (medium flow), pad?

Answer: To really minimize staining, it’s best to rinse your pads as soon as you can after each use.
Some fabrics will stain more then others. Organic fabrics do tend to stain more. Synthetic fabrics stain less. This is an issue for some women, so they prefer fabrics such as minkee over organics such as bamboo velour etc.. Other women still want organics, but are bothered by stains, so they prefer dark colored pads to help ‘hide’ the stains.
Which ever fabrics you use though, it really is best to rinse immediately after use to prevent stains from setting in. Also, you can pretreat your pad stains the same way you would your regular laundry. I’ve also been known to throw the same pads into one load of laundry after another, just to give them a real thourough washing if I’m worried about staining. This helps too, and the pads are so minimal that they don’t add any ‘bulk’ to a load of regular laundry.

New stock is up early!

August 11, 2008

Our new stock is up early! We’d actually like to continue a new trend, getting stock done early for previewing. Alas, life gets in the way all too often and it just doesn’t happen. But! this week we got it done, and it’s all there for your viewing pleasure.

Some peeks at what we have this week:

First off, my favorites from this week, pink pantywraps! These turned out so cute and many days, all I want is a trim ‘extra’ layer to keep me feeling protected from any ‘mishaps’ that might occur through out the day (*cough cough*-*sneeze*)… you get what I mean. These pantywraps are perfect for that. No waterproofing, just an extra little layer of protection with bamboo fleece & a top layer of super soft pretty pink cotton.

Pink PantyWraps

Thong liners.

Tiny Liners

One tiny extreme to the huge extreme, Ultimate Pads:

For those looking for a deal on some pads, we have 3 packages of 4 pads each that are slight seconds.
The fabrics in these packages just didn’t want to sew as well together so they aren’t as pretty as some of our other packages. We’ve discounted these accordingly and for less then 40.- a few people can get an awesome deal on some of our ultimate style pads.

We also have a set of 2 Ultimate II Pads which are also discounted. This is a great time to stock up on some post partum pads!

We have quite a few of our regular style pads this week, including these pretties.

And these:

That’s enough picture sharing for this week!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last week we missed out on answering some of our FAQ Contest entries.
Since the stock is up early, I have some time to answer several entries of questions today.
Question:
A ‘technical question’ - how does bamboo and hemp compare regarding absorbtion?
Personally, I find hemp still does a little better then the bamboo velour for absorbing, however, the bamboo is much softer, so this little bit of difference just doesn’t seem to compare for most people who prefer a good quality SOFT fabric over a good quality, slightly more absorbant fabric.
All that to say, hemp is probably more absorbant, but bamboo velour is still a winner in the ‘popularity’ contest because it is also very absorbant, and remains soft use after use.
Question:
Do you make your ultimate2 in either of the above fabrics? In pretty colors?
Yes, we sure do!
We try to keep hand dyed bamboo velours instock at all times, however, we don’t do our own dying so this means often we need to wait on shipments from our fabric dyers. We try to order early, but things do come up and sometimes we run out of the hand dyed pretties. At those times, we try to concentrate on getting caught up on the ‘regular’ more affordable pads which many of our customers enjoy. We still feel our regular fabrics are ‘pretty’ but they just aren’t quite as in demand as our hand dyed bamboo velours.
Question:
What would I need to start out? I currently have 9 day periods, and have to use night and super pads all the time. I also struggle with thrush and sweat
rash.  Any advice?First off, I believe just making the switch to cloth will help with the thrush, and the sweat rash.
Many women do suffer just as you do. I don’t think we realise just how common this is, but I receive quite a few emails from women just like you who suffer the same way.
So far, all these women who have chosen to make the switch, have found relief.
As for how many pads a woman needs? This is a question we get asked very often and I usually tell women that a lot of it depends on how often you will be able to wash your pads.
Once you know how often you’ll be washing, it’s easier to figure out how many pads you’ll need in total.
If you are able to wash your pads about every second day, then you just need a stash of about 2 days of pads, plus a few extras, just in case.
To figure out how many cloth pads you need per day, simply pay attention to how many disposable pads you are using per day and the amount will probably be about the same. However, with cloth pads, often women will just use one brand, one size, for their full period. With cloth, women often prefer to have a stash of different sizes & styles, for different ‘parts’ of their cycle.
For night time, for women such as yourself who have very heavy flow, most prefer the Ultimate II and Ultimate pads for night time use. The size and shapes of these pads keep you well protected even when moving about, tossing and turning etc..
For day time use on heavy flow days, the wrap around wing heavy pads are great. They keep you well covered, yet they are still quite trim.
When wanting a more discreet pad, with a heavier flow, I recommend the medium/regular wrap wing pad with a PUL backing. These are great when you need to be out and about and want something truly discreet while wearing jeans etc.. If having a really heavy flow day while wearing a regular/medium wrap wing pad, you’ll still be covered well but you’ll just want to check on the pad a little more often.
To make this long explanation a little shorter…
For women such as yourself, with a heavy and longer flow, if you are washing about every 2 days I would recommend something like this:
2 Utimate or Ultimate II pads
4 Heavy Wrap Wing Pads
6-8 Medium/Regular wrap Wing Pads
And then if you’re wanting a few light pads to keep you protected as your flow dissapears, or while waiting for your flow to begin, I suggest a few light pads, tiny liners or pantywraps. 1 or 2 per day is usually enough when not having a ‘true’ flow.
Question:
How do younger women react to cloth pads?
And do peers tease them & pressure them to use the latest “disposable” products?
I’m not sure I’m the best one to answer this question, because we homeschool and we just don’t have the same ‘peer’ pressure in our lives as others might. However, my eldest daughter (she’ll be 17 this month) has been using cloth since her second cycle. She has never had an qualms about using cloth. She loves being able to choose the colors & fabrics she loves, the style and sizes she prefers etc.. A few of her homeschooling friends also use cloth, so I guess for her, it’s really nothing different then her enjoying one thing, while another friend may enjoy another.
On that note, she did not even realise her homeschool friends were using cloth, until I mentioned the purchase they had made a couple of years back. I thought she had already known. She was pleasantly surprised to find out, but obviously, whether her friends used cloth or disposables, didn’t have much impact on her own choices and it’s obviously not something all young girls discuss with one another.
If we want our girls to be proud of their bodies, and proud of their own choices, I think it’s important to help them experience that in all aspects of their lives.
There is so much talk these days of how important it is to protect our enviroment, to make responsible choices in what we use etc., that I believe it’s much easier on our young girls to be proud of choices that may seem a little ‘different’ to others at first.
Most girls are either going to be very open about their choices and have no qualms about sharing, or they are more private. If they are more private about their choices, they probably would not be the type to share about what brand they use, or do not use anyways.
Question:
My question is - when are you going to stock pads one at a time instead of in packages? I would love to try one to see if I like it, but committing to a package of 3 or more seems like a lot to spend when I am not sure if I will love them… I would love to try one of your pads, but have only seen sets for the last month or two that I have been watching.
Good question!
I know some of our customers have noticed that we’ve gone from selling individual pads, to packages. There is a simple reason for this. Time management.
When we first started HomemadeMama, it was quite easy to just make some pads, take a few pictures, and then list the pads in the cart. However, as the need became greater for more pads, this became VERY time consuming. Often for stockings, I will have 150-200 product photos to take, upload to my computer, then edit, then upload to the internet, and then from there, list in the shop. I enjoy sharing photos of almost every angle of the products, to show them well so people get a real ‘feel’ for what they are buying, even though they can not physically ‘touch’ them.
However, obviously the more products we sell, the more time this takes, and it really is very time consuming.
We are a homeschooling family with five children, and a small farm.
Every time we allow the business to take up too much time in our lives, our children, home and farm suffer for it. We simply can not allow this to happen, as home and family MUST come first.
This is a very difficult balance to acheive as the business grows though. Selling things in packages helps, a lot. Not only on stocking day, but also on packing day. When selling pads individually, it takes a lot more time in listing and then in packaging.
We are hoping to resolve some of this problem by doing more listings of the same pads.
This does mean loosing a bit of the ‘uniqueness’ of our pads though, but something does need to change and we hope by offering a bunch of the same pads for sale each stocking, this will give more new customers a chance to purchase just a couple of pads, and we can still list more ‘unique’ packages as well.
We really do strive to offer all we can, to keep all the customers happy. At the same time though, we realise that this just isn’t completely possible and the bottom line is that we have to do what’s best for our family and the time that we have to devote to the business and hope that we can keep most of the customers happy, most of the time. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

To end off this rather long post, a photo from this past week.

We finally have our new stock up in the shop: www.hyenacart.com/HomemadeMama

I’m so excited about this stocking. LOTS of beautiful packages with some of my favorite fabrics!
Jen from www.CelticCloths.com has done it again and created some beautiful hand dyed bamboo velours for me to play with! These were so much fun! I can’t decide which packages I like best!

Here’s a peak at some of them:

Geisha

More Whooooo… loves owls.

Bold & Beautiful Flowers

Green Goodness

This week we also have black silk. I love this black silk, and we’ve paired it up with black waterproof fleece. However, we are on the hunt for an organic inner fabric, in black. Try as we might, we just can’t seem to keep that inner bamboo fleece from peeking out from the edges. Non the less, we love these black silk pads anyways and we hope you do to! :)

This week we also have LOTS of beautiful, bright and cheery facial packages!
Indulge yourself in a treat for your skin with these colorful facial cloths in an assortment of sizes!

Everything goes live at 8pm EST on Tuesday Aug. 5th!
We’ll see you there! :)

We’re stocking late this week, as we are awaiting the arrival of… snaps!

We hope the snaps will indeed arrive in time for our stocking on Thursday evening at 8pm.
Here’s a sneak peak at just ’some’ of the colors we’ll be offering at that time!

Summer splash!

And some earthier tones for those who prefer natural over bright and colorful.

This week, we also hope to stock at www.LilyPadLanding.com for the Natural Sweetness Theme!

We’ve come up with some gorgeous sets of naturally sweet ‘flavors’.

Blueberries, grapes, raspberries, mandarin oranges and lime!
What could be more naturally sweet?!

Come and join us at www.hyenacart.com/HomemadeMama on Thursday evening @ 8:00 pm EST

Now, onto our question for this week from our FAQ contest.

Question: why do some women have to wear liners every day, while others don’t?Answer: There can be different reasons why some women use liners daily.
One, can be weak muscles. Some women also have minor incontinence issues, when they sneeze, cough,
step too quickly etc., they can have a slight ‘leak’ and they simply feel much more confident if they
wear a liner daily, to protect them from these ’surprises’.

Personally, I’m one of these women. After having 5 children and gaining some weight, I find my muscles
just aren’t working as well as they once did and having some light protection daily just gives me the
confidence I need if I get a sudden coughing attack, sneeze etc.. There’s not much worse then being
out in public and worrying that you might have an ‘oopsie’ moment!
It’s more common then some would think!

Also, some women experience ‘discharge’ for various reasons.
One very common reason is ovulation. Some have a heavier discharge then others during this time
of the month. Again, having a liner daily can give them the confidence they need to feel secure that
there won’t be any embarrasing moments while out in public etc..

Then some women simply like wearing a liner to keep them feeling fresh and dry all day long.

I’ve possibly missed a couple reasons why some women wear a daily liner,
but those are the most common reasons that I can think of. :)

I don’t have any photos yet, as I’m a day behind, but still hoping to stock on time.
(I dared to take 24 hours off this weekend, and now I’m paying for it!)

We’ll have new stock on Tuesday evening @ 8pm EST, as per usual.

We’ll have some rainbows of color again.  Sample packages, larger packages,
lots of our Ultimate Pads in all 4 sizes, and LOTS and LOTS of silk.

There will be silk tiny liners, silk comfort contour light liners, silk nursing pads,
and one of my favorites, yet some what neglected product, our healing liners.

Our favorite tip for healing liners?
Make a healing liner damp, put it in a ziploc in the freezer,
and pull it out to lay on top of your post partum pads for some cool, silky, healing relief.

Do you or your baby suffer from thrush/yeast?
Healing liners can be placed on top of mama’s pad, or in baby’s diaper, to offer comfort and relief to both of you. Raw silk offers natural healing properties that fight against yeast/thrush infections that plague so many of us. The raw silk also offers a ’stay dry’ feel for both baby and mama, making these even more devine. We’ll have lots in stock, so snag a couple for you, and a couple for baby, and you’ll be thankful for them when either of you are in need of some healing comfort!

This week we’ll also have some new Poppetjie Blankies in stock,
including some for those Whoooooo Love Owls!

________________________________________________________________________________

Now, let’s answer another question from our FAQ Contest!

Question:I have an IUD so my periods are very light and usually only last 2-3 days at most. I have very light spotting between periods as well. I have several different types of mama pads(lights, regulars and pantyliners) and I was curious to see what you would recommend for me. I love the look of your pads and want to know what I should be using before I go buying anything else! Thanks!!

Answer: We have a few styles that our customers prefer for light periods.
My personal favorites for lighter flow days that are still heavy enough to warrent more then a light pad, would be the medium wrap wing pad.
BUT, it really does depend a lot on personal preference.
My almost 17 year old daughter much prefers the medium comfort contour pad
and the ultimate regular flow pad, over the wrap wing pads.
Both of us love one style over the other for our own personal reasons.
I love the extra protection wrap wings offer, she loves the fit of the comfort contour styles.

On your ’spotting only’ days, I’d recommend considering which size/style of liner
you feel would work best for you.
There are wrap around wings, or comfort contour style.
6 inch tiny liners, 7 inch pantywraps and 8 inch light pads in comfort contour and wrap wings.

The best way to decide what will work best for you is to look at that pads that are currently your favorites.
Whether they are disposables or cloth, decide what you do, and do not, like about them.
Some women LOVe the extra protection of the wrap around wing style.
Backed in PUL, these can be extremely thin/trim too, while still offering great coverage!
Others LOVe the small tab style wings of the comfort contour pads,
because they feel these wings offer no ‘bulk’, and still offer enough protection if their flow isn’t very heavy.
We introduced the ultimate regular flow pads for those who love the fit of our comfort contour
but wanted a little more protection then the medium comfort contour style offered,
in a slightly thinner pad.

Each style of pad is different, and what one person loves, another might not.
The style that works for one person’s flow, may not necessarily work for another.

This can cause a bit of confusion when first starting out in the world of cloth,
but once a woman finds what works best for her, she’ll usually find that she’ll still reach for her ‘lesser’ favorites occassionally, so all is not lost. :)

It does take a bit of extra time, and some funds, to figure out what will work best for you
but if you purchase just one or two, and sample here and there,
usually it won’t take too long to figure it all out.
Just be sure to pay attention to the sizes and styles of pads offered.
Will the ‘crotch’ be too narrow for your favorite undies?
Will the style offer enough protection if you happen to have an unusual heavy flow while out and about?
Will you feel more confident with larger wrap wings, then the tiny tab style?
Or do you prefer absolutely no extra bulk, with good coverage, as in the ultimate regular flow design?

The great thing about cloth pads, is they will never go to waste!
And, truth be known, I still love using the comfort contour styles as well,
when my flow is lighter and there’s no fear of ‘gushing’.
My own personal stash consists of most of our styles, and I use each one on different days.
Heavy flow days, I use the heavier styles of pads.
As my flow tapers down, I switch to the medium wrap wing pads.
As it slows down a bit more, I switch to the comfort contour styles,
right down to the 6 inch tiny liner at the end of my cycle!
I love having an array of sizes/styles to suit each day of my cycle.
That’s what works best for me!

So don’t be afraid to experiment a bit.
You’ll probably find yourself still using most of your pads, just different ones, for different days!

I hope that answers your questions and doesn’t ‘add’ to the confusion!
______________________________________________________

To end my post for today, I’d like to share a few photos of my twin girls in some new outfits a friend made for them.

I am SOOOO pleased with how these outfits turned out!
They were created by Jenny of www.hyenacart.com/JennyWrenKids

Jenny does custom orders, and I told her just what I wanted, and then gave her some creative freedom to come up with her own ideas on how to implement what I was looking for.
She did a GREAT job!
These are by far, the nicest outfits my girls have ever had.

They were so thrilled, they said I could take as MANY photos as I wanted. ;)
One of my twins says that all the time, but the other, not so much… so I knew she must really love her outfit. :)

And one last one for fun!

We’ve listed a Custom’s Only Surprise Stocking for Friday at 2pm EST!

Our silk has finally arrived, so we’ve listed some custom slots for silk liners and/or nursing pads!

Choose from 8 inch liners

Tiny Liners

Nursing Pads

Or Healing Baby/Mama Liners

We also have two RAINBOW custom slots available for Comfort Contour Packages!

You choose how many, and which sizes!

We’ll also be stocking more instock items next Tuesday evening, as per usual. :)

First off, some sneak peaks at this week’s instock! No ‘full’ photos at this time, but they should be up in the shop by late Monday, early Tuesday.

I do have some sneak peaks for you though!

This week we have a huge variety of pads. We are STILL in the midst of trying to sell our hobby farm, and this uncertainty of not knowing when it will sell, keeps us on our toes. In the mean time, until we sell, we’d like to keep business going as smoothly as possible so that we can take some time off once we do sell, and make the big move. So because of this, we are constantly trying to keep ahead of things. So this week we decided to try and stock some specialty things, PLUS lots of our regular items as well that often get pushed aside in the hype of our newer, more specialized fabrics.

So this week, we will have more Rainbow Swirl dyed pads with fabrics from Pam at www.hyenacart.com/indigoonion . I don’t have any photos of this week’s pads, but I do have a reminder of last week’s and the new ones will be sure to please just as well. :)

We’ll also have some sets, with some whimsical matching bags. I’ve matched up some more fabrics dyed by Pam from IndigoOnion with some Owls and I think the combination turned out really sweet!

Next up, gorgeous Lavender verlours paired up with gorgeous lavender print!

This week we are also introducing fabrics dyed by Gigi at www.hyenacart.com/NaturalHomePresents
We are VERY pleased to bring her gorgeous dying methods to our pads!

Here’s a sampling of the many Ultimate Pads we’ll be stocking this week:

Aren’t the colors just gorgeous?

We’ve also used up our last bit of Pink Lemonade for this stocking.

You’ll find LOTS more on Tuesday evening at 8pm EST, 5pm PST.

Now, onto our first round of questions and answers from our last contest!

We asked you, our customers, to ask HomemadeMama some questions and we would report back with answers that would possibly also be compiled into a new Frequently Asked Questions Page for our site.

We receive a lot of questions at HomemadeMama, and it helps us to understand our customers, and their needs, better. You helping us by participating in our contest, really helps us all. So thank you!

I will be answering questions as they were posted via our comments. The names of those asking the questions will not be shared, as previously agreed. We didn’t want anyone to feel embarrased so that they would feel free to be open with their questions.

Question: How did you get started making cloth menstrual pads?
I heard about cloth pads many years ago, and my first innitial reaction was pretty much disgust. Really.
That’s very hard to believe now though!
When I first heard about cloth pads, I did not do any research, I had no desire to. Disposable products were all I ever knew and saw no reason to change that.
However, a while later after battling yeast infection after yeast infection, I decided to do some research and found that some women had relief from irritations with cloth pads. I still thought cloth pads were pretty gross, BUT, thought maybe I could just try some cloth pantiliners. That didn’t seem too ‘gross’. ;)
So, I cut up an old flannel nighty I had that was soft, and seemed like a good choice for my first try at cloth. I made simple lay in contour shapes. Nothing fancy, no wings etc… If I wanted to make sure these stayed in place, I simply used a tiny little safety pin. It seemed easy enough.
I enjoyed the cloth pantiliners so much, that I thought maybe I should try some cloth pads afterall.
During this time I did some more research and found that the chemicals in disposable pads were possibly linked to endometriosis. I had been diagnosed with the onset of endometriosis after two miscarriages in 1997. I remembered the fear I had at that time, that I may not carry another baby full term because of these problems. I had to consider this some more.

At this same time, my eldest daughter began her monthly, and as I handed her a box of disposable pads, I realized that I REALLY needed to make some decisions. I did not want her, or any of my other three daughters, to go through the same fears I had when I heard I possibly had endometriosis. I needed to at least give cloth pads a try, if not for myself, then for them.

I looked through my fabric stash and found some I thought would be suitable for pads. My first pads were quite bulky and not pretty at all really. I laugh at the thought of them now. But they were a start, and we all need to start somewhere right?

I was amazed at how quickly what I once thought was ‘gross’ became something so natural.
I’m still amazed by that really. Once I got over my innitial ‘fears’ and misunderstandings about our flow, it really wasn’t so bad afterall, and in fact, I found it quite comforting.
First, it was comfortable. I was suprised by this. I expected it to feel wet, messy, and uncomfortable! Instead, it was quite the opposite.
Secondly, I could feel good about sharing this new found information with my daughter and making her a set of pads for herself! She picked out the fabrics she liked from my stash and we got to work on her very own set.
Thirdly, I noticed very quickly that almost all irritation I had previously had dissapeared since using only cloth pantiliners and pads. By the second month, it had dissapeared all together.

That is how our journey in cloth bagan.

 Question: Is your entire family involved in the process (I remember you mentioning that your oldest daughter helps cut the fabric, which is what made me ask the question)?
Our entire family is involved in this business, but not in the making of our pads.
Our eldest daughter does most of the cutting of the pads, except for the ‘fancy’ tops. I do most of those myself. I never seem to tire of working with beautiful fabrics, and just love ‘fussy’ cutting out the tops when our gorgeous hand dyed fabrics arrive. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the creative process. :)
Everyone else has their ‘jobs’ from cutting out wipes, to putting on snaps, to cutting out cotton balls.
There’s always lots to do for anyone who wants to help and earn some funds for their hobbies.
Three of our children have their own horses and these three are the busiest within the business. They enjoy helping with the care and upkeep of their own horses and their help provides them with the opportunity to do just that.

Question:Are you surprised by all of the interest in your products (as evidenced by the way people stalk your hyena cart stockings)?
Frankly, yes, I am, but very pleasantly surprised.
For quite some time, the customers were ‘there’, but most were quite hidden.
Cloth menstrual pads hasn’t always been a subject people liked to discuss, and especially not boast about.
Times are changing though, and the increase in demand for cloth menstrual products is evidence of this chnage. It’s truly wonderful!
Women shouldn’t be ashamed of using cloth. It’s a wonderful thing!
However, I do understand some women’s hesitancy to share openly about cloth. To this day, my husband is still more willing to boast and share about our business then I am. ;) Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of the business, and the use of cloth pads, but I’m just a little quieter about it then my husband is. ;)
However, if someone shows interest in learning more, at that time, I can talk their ear off!

 I think that’s enough sharing for our first batch of questions!
I will continue to answer more in future posts whenever time permits. It’s 2:30 am now though, and I need some sleep if I’m going to snap photos in the morning of all these beautiful goodies awaiting for Tuesday’s stocking!

Previews are up for this week’s stocking!

And the winner is……

Sharon!

Because this is an annonymous contest, I don’t want to post anymore info then your first name. So if you are Sharon, you know who you are! We only had one Sharon enter out of our 31 contest entries, so send me an email at homemademama(AT)gmail.com with your home address, and we’ll send you your prize!
This set of 3 variety liner!

We have received 31 entries, with many entries having more then one question, so it will take me a while to compile the answers. I hope to answer several questions at a time, rather then creating one huge long post all at once. Later we will compile all the questions and answers into one list. This will be added to our site in the future.

We have another contest coming up soon, in which we will again be asking for your help.

Our eldest daughter (soon to be 17 years old) is writing a booklet for young girls/ teens about the use of cloth, and their period. We will be asking you, our readers, to send us any information you would like to see in such a booklet. Questions you had as a teen, or that your young daughters have or have had. If you are a young girl yourself, ask the questions you have about cloth and we’ll try to answer them for you! If you are a mother who found some things particularly helpful in discussing things with your young daughter(s), let us know.

So put on your thinking caps once again for our next contest. I’m going to put together a nice gift/prize for this contest. Something that would work well for young girls wanting to try cloth. It will also work for us women too. So if you have a special young girl in your life, this gift could be given to them, or you can have it for yourself. :)

If we receive a lot of questions, I may just slip in a second prize, just for the fun of it!

Don’t send your questions yet!
Wait until our next post and we’ll keep the questions & comments annonymous once again.

And, simply because I love adding color to this blog, here is another photo to share this week from our garden.
